The CIDER Summit 2009 is a 2-day educational conference co-sponsored by the California Association of Communicable Disease Controllers, California Department of Public Health, and University of California, San Francisco, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Division of Preventive Medicine and Public Health.

The CIDER Summit 2009 will highlight (1) the advances in the epidemiology and control of emerging infectious diseases; (2) the recognition, investigation, and response to recent large foodborne outbreaks; (3) the state of electronic disease reporting and surveillance in California; (4) updates on pediatric and adult immunization practices; (5) selected updates in the prevention and control of high priority infectious diseases; and (6) the science behind the legal reporting of healthcare-associated infections.

Field Epidemiology Training - UC Berkeley CIDER

CIDER will also be hosting a post-conference training entitled Field Epidemiology.  This intensive course will cover the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to conduct an epidemiologic field investigation. The training will be held August 5-7, 2009, following the 2-day conference. 

The Field Epidemiology Training will be given at UC Berkeley CIDER, located at 1918 University Avenue (at MLK Way), 4th Floor, Berkeley, CA, 94704.  The cost to register for this two day training is $395.00.  Discounts available for those registering for both the Summit and Training.  Please see the Registration Page for more information.

Accreditation Statement

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the essential areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) and UC Berkeley Center for Infectious Diseases & Emergency Readiness. UCSF is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Designation Statement:  UCSF designates this educational activity as follows:

CIDER Summit scheduled to occur August 3-4, 2009 is designated 13.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Post-Course Field Epidemiology Training scheduled to occur on August 5-7, 2009 is designated 17.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

This CME Activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.

 

Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

 

Paramedics and EMTs:  This summit has been approved for 12.5 hours of instructor-based Prehospital Continuing Education.  CIDER is an approved California EMS CE Provider. No. 01-0036.

 

Introduction to R Training - UC Berkeley Campus

This training will introduce students to R, an open source program for statistical computing and graphics, in a 2-day intensive program emphasizing basic analysis and interpretation.

The Introduction to R Training will be given at UC Berkeley Campus 212 Wheeler on August 19-20, 2009.  The cost to register for this two day training is $250.00.
