Post Conference Workshops

CIDER Summit will offer 3 workshops on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.  Attendees may opt to learn about CERT Training Modules, APC Toolkits, or Public Health & Emergency Project Management.

Registration for the CERT Training Modules and APC Toolkits is free with summit registration for the first 75 to sign up per workshop.  Registration for the Public Health & Emergency Project Management Workshop is $50.00 for early bird registration and $75.00 for standard registration.

Post Conference Workshop # 1: Public Health & Emergency Project Management (PHEPM)

Public Health & Emergency Project Management (PHEPM) is the application of scientific project management concepts and methods to emergency preparedness and response projects. Before a public health emergency, PHEPM methods and software tools can be used to guide planning of response activities. During an event, PHEPM concepts can be applied to ensure simple steps are taken to shorten response times (e.g., working on tasks in parallel; and requesting more resources to execute tasks). After this workshop, participants will be able to: (1) describe basic project management concepts; (2) apply basic project management concepts and methods to emergency preparedness and response projects; and (3) describe how software solutions (e.g., Microsoft Project) can be used to support emergency project management.

Registration for Public Health & Emergency Project Management Training is $50.00 for early bird registration and $75.00 for standard registration.

Post Conference Workshop #2: Public Health Community Emergency Response Training (PH-CERT) Curriculum

Community emergency response teams such as CERTs, MRCs and ARC volunteers may be a critical resource in a variety of responses to events that have public health implications. The PH-CERT Curriculum is a critical tool that bridges the gap between currently available trainings and can be used as a just-in-time training tool or as standard training for community level volunteers with some preparedness and response training. This training session will provide participants an overview of the modules in the curriculum with a focus on Infectious Disease Threats After Disasters. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss and identify ways in which community volunteers can be used to mitigate infectious disease threats after disasters and how they can potentially assist public health in various response efforts such as PODs, mass sheltering and post disaster clean up efforts.

Post Conference Workshop # 3: Advanced Practice Center (APC) Toolkits Unveiled!

Be one of the first to learn about several brand new toolkits developed by the San Francisco Bay Area Advanced Practice Center (APC.) The Infectious Disease Emergency Response (IDER) Toolkit provides guidance to local health departments on how to develop and operationalize a NIMS-compliant response plan for infectious disease emergencies. The Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Implementation (PIVI) Toolkit provides local health departments with tools to implement state and federal pandemic influenza vaccination guidelines. Learn about how these toolkits can supplement your current efforts to prepare and respond to H1N1 and other infectious diseases.
