TABLETOP EXERCISES
Business Continuity and Pandemic Influenza

Day 2 - Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

This discussion-based tabletop exercise will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss and define gaps and vulnerabilities within the Business and the Public Health community regarding the level of preparedness for a public health emergency such as the pandemic influenza outbreak. All educational and foundational information will be discussed on Day 1.


Topics under discussion may include:


      • planning for an event of pandemic influenza
      • structure of collaborative process
      • components of internal and external communication
      • supply chain for essential goods and services
      • structure of intelligence and technology and
      • possibility for business to business mentoring and support


The discussion will progress based on changes to the environment and response activities projected over an extended timeline. Participants will draw on their personal experience and knowledge
gained through the informational sessions offered during the Summer CIDER Program.

Employee Health Pandemic Influenza

Day 3 - Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Facilitators: Cindy Lambdin, RN, MS; Tomas Aragon, MD, DrPH, UC Berkeley CIDP


This discussion-based tabletop exercise will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss and define gap and vulnerabilities within the topic of employee health. All educational and foundational information will be discussed on Day 1. During this exercise various issues may
be explored:


      • personal infection control techniques
      • communication of critical information
      • stockpile
      • employee communication and education
      • work shifts
      • business interruptions
      • insurance
      • access
      • masks vs. respirators and
      • containment—social distancing


The discussion will progress based on changes to the environment and response activities projected over an extended timeline. Participants will draw on their personal experience and knowledge gained through the informational sessions offered during the Summer CIDER Program.
