General Information About CIDER Courses


COURSE ENROLLMENT
All courses require pre-registration. To register for one or more courses, click here.

Enrollment for most courses is limited, so please register early. Once you submit your registration form, we will send you more details about the course(s), including location(s) and directions to the site(s). If you prefer to register offline, please call the Center for Infectious Disease Preparedness (CIDP) at 510/643-4939 and request a print copy of the registration form to be sent to you.

COURSE FEES
All half-day workshops are free of charge. To register, follow instructions above.

All multi-day courses require a $25 fee:

  • Field Epidemiology Basics (with computer lab)
  • Relational Database Management System for Epidemiologists (with computer lab)
  • Principles of Public Health Microbiology
After submitting your online registration form for the course(s) which require a fee, please send a check for the appopriate amount made payable to "UC Regents" to:

Be sure to note your name and which course(s) the payment is for. Your registration will not be considered complete until BOTH your registration form and payment have been received. Some courses may fill up early, so be sure to send in your check promptly to ensure your space.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you must cancel once you have enrolled in a course, as a courtesy to other potential participants, please notify CIDP as soon as you know you will not be able to attend. We will not be able to provide refunds for courses that require fees.

COURSE LOCATIONS
All courses are located either on the UC Berkeley campus or within a few blocks of the campus. All sites are conveniently accessible by the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system and other local public transportation. Once you register for a course, CIDP will forward to you the course location and directions to the site.

PARKING
Please be aware that parking is expensive in Downtown Berkeley. Public transportation is recommended.

There are many independent parking lots in this area - you can find them by driving around. Here are some recommendations for lot and garages maintained by UCB or City of Berkeley, with directions and hours that you can print out at the links below.

- recommend the Center Street Parking Lot or Allston Way Lot for courses at our office

- recommend the Oxford Street Lot for courses at University Hall or Warren Hall

- recommend Sather Gate Garage or MLK Student Union (campus lot) for courses at Wheeler Hall

There are various public parking lots and facilities near campus and in downtown Berkeley. This list includes municipal and privately owned parking lots and garages open to the public. Please consult signs for hours and fees prior to entering the facilities.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Each CIDER course or workshop has been approved by the California Department of Health Services for both CMEs and nursing credits. Please see each course listing for specific number of units being offered.

HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS IN BERKELEY
The UC Berkeley's Summer Visitor Housing Program offers summer visitors affordable accommodations in a convenient location at the edge of the campus. Moderately priced buffet style meals are also available as an option (not required). For more information or to make a reservation, simply go online at www.housing.berkeley.edu/conference/summervis or call 510/642-4444 (through June 3rd) or 510/642-5925 (beginning June 4th). Rooms may fill up quickly, so be sure to make your reservations early.
