Courses

The Center for Infectious Diseases & Emergency Readiness (CIDER) is a CDC Center for Public Health Preparedness based at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. We are part of a national network of public health preparedness training centers. Our mission is to educate and train frontline public health staff to improve their ability to detect, investigate, and respond to microbial threats through education, training, evaluation, and research.

Our academic courses are designed for public health professionals. These courses are free and take place at CIDER at 1918 University Ave, 4th Floor. We are located 2.5 blocks west of the UC Berkeley campus and 3 blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART station.

Most CIDER courses can also be taken for PH298 credit for registered public health graduate students. You do not have to be working or involved in emergency or bioterrorism preparedness to enroll in our courses. We encourage participants from a diversity of backgrounds since during an emergency we will need many well trained and prepared staff. For additional information, call 510-643-4939 or send email to idready@berkeley.edu.
